The nurse calling, safety and locating system of 9Solutions Ltd. for Kainuu new hospital

Kainuu new hospital will get a nurse calling, personnel safety, and personnel and device locating system that represents the latest in technology. 9Solutions Ltd., which specialises in healthcare safety and communications solutions, has made a contract for supplying the systems to the hospital, which is under construction in Kajaani. The contract covers, in addition to the devices and systems, the services related to these that the company provides as a cloud service. The CEO of 9Solutions Ltd., Sami Herrala, describes the contract as a very significant one – even just because the company is supplying a new hospital with a large, holistic solution.

”Kainuu is getting a large, notable and ultra-modern hospital. From our point of view, it’s great to be involved in realising it,” he says.

9Solutions has attained a strong position in the safety and communications solutions used in hospitals, health centres, residential homes and home care. Indeed, CEO Herrala estimates that the company has passed a significant threshold in its operations. The newbuild and complete renovation project of the hospital in Kajaani, which will be carried out in several stages, will be completed in 2021. Project Manager Terho Pekkala at the Kainuu social and healthcare association of municipalities says that the purpose of the large project is to update services, the organisation and the hospital too.

”The aim is to make an efficient, rehabilitating care environment that will serve the people of Kainuu for the coming decades,” he says.

Both basic healthcare services and all core specialist services, such as accident and emergency, maternity and surgery will operate in the hospital. ”In the planning, the safety and flexibility of the premises and the technology was highlighted. The requirements for the property and therapeutic systems is smartness, ease of use and the possibility to expand and modify them according to changing needs. These were also influential factors in the selection of 9Solutions Ltd.,” assesses Pekkala.

The new hospital of Kainuu will be realised through a so-called alliance model. In addition to the Kainuu social and healthcare association, the Kainua alliance includes Skanska, which is operating as the construction contractor, Caverion, which is responsible for the building technology and ICT, and the planning companies Sweco Architects and Sweco Rakennetekniikka, Sweco PM and Sweco Talotekniikka. The Project Leader Veikko Laitila at Caverion says that the package offered by 9Solutions Ltd. will help, for its part, to meet the objectives that the Kainua alliance has set for the hospital of the future – including in terms of smartness, flexibility of conversion and patient satisfaction.

”The systems of 9Solutions Ltd. will also be connected seamlessly as a part of the hospital’s operations control,” he adds.
